13 Phenomenal Benefits of Grapefruit Essential Oil for Skin, Hair and More
Grapefruit is a joy to eat. Slicing open that delicious, huge fruit full of tart and sweet juices in the morning is something we all can look forward to. And the aroma- don’t get us started! The smell is that of one that is light, fruity, and uplifting, to say the very least. And the smell and taste are only a small fraction of the benefits that grapefruit offers.
You see, grapefruit essential oil not only nourishes your body, but breathes new life into your skin and hair. It is loaded with antioxidants, and has some pretty great medicinal benefits, too. The secret is in the essential oil extracted from this super-fruit.
You cold-press the oil from the fruit’s rind, and it comes out yellow in color. It has a consistency that is a lot like water. Care must be taken to distinguish this oil from grapefruit seed oil, which comes from the inside of the grapefruit. You can find these oils in many hair products. It is important to use the oils 6 months after you extract them, or the benefits may not be as strong.

When hair follicles are blocked with dead skin cells, excess oil, and/or bacteria, this results in pimples and acne. Grapefruit essential oil can be put into use as a natural way of treating or managing the acne breakouts you may be experiencing. It clears the hair follicles of any material that is causing the block.
It also aids in the reduction of sebum production by regulating sebaceous gland activity and preventing bacteria buildup that results in swelling and infections. This great essential oil will cleanse and disinfect your skin, and you can even add it to face wash or in conjunction with a carrier oil for even better results.
9. Eliminate Stinky Pits-Naturally!
We all sweat. We get nervous, we go to the gym, we just do it as a normal biological function. However, nobody around us wants to smell that! Therefore, you can use a chemical-laden commercial deodorant, or you can use some nice essential oil. Grapefruit essential oil is a home remedy that had body-odor reducing properties.
It reduces the production of sweat from the sweat glands and inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria. This acts in two ways: it serves as an anti-perspirant as well as an antibacterial deodorant. You can avoid chemicals found in most commercial deodorant blends and smell great all at the same time.
10. Got Period Cramps?
Ladies, I am talking to you again-we’ve all been there. It’s 3 PM at the office, or you’re in the middle of class at school. The boss or the teacher is going on and on about whatever, but all you can do is fidget in your seat because your lower back hurts so bad with those bothersome period cramps.
Now you don’t have to just sit there anymore! Excuse yourself to the bathroom and massage a little grapefruit essential oil onto the skin. It will increase blood circulation to that particular area resulting in a reduction of menstrual pain. You can also consume it to get the benefits of its pain-relieving abilities.

Then gently scrub the paste all over your clean face and leave it there for 7-10 minutes total. Rinse it off with tepid water. Feel the natural refreshment!

You can use grapefruit essential oil as a way to make a nice toner for your face and reduce oily skin, shrink down those large pores and get that skin tight.
Get an amber glass spray bottle and pour in a half cup of distilled water. Add 1 tsp of witch hazel and 3 drops of grapefruit essential oil. Cap and shake well. Spray onto your face and let it dry, then use moisturizer as you normally would.
13. Make A Hair Tonic
